Eligibility:  Students who were directly impacted by Tropical Storm Irene flooding.

  • Seniors whose families’ homes were damaged or destroyed
  • Forward an essay describing how you and your family were impacted by Irene.  Let them know how your experience has impacted your financial plan for secondary school

Eligibility:
Recipients must be Harwood Union or Green Mountain Valley School students
· Graduating in the Spring of 2012, and living in the towns of Moretown, Fayston, Waitsfield or Warren, Granville 
· Maintained a GPA of 3.0 or better
Awards: (1) $8,000 scholarship payable over 4-years
(2) $2,000 Scholarship

Harwood Boosters Club Scholarship

Eligibility:  Students who demonstrate a positive attitude towards the value of high education.

Eligibility:  Students who will be continuing on to a tech program or college

Dascomb P. Rowe Scholarship

Knights of Columbus – Father Logue Scholars Gift Award

Eligibility:  Members of St. Andrew Parish, Waterbury, Vt.

Award: $500

Waterbury Rotary Club

Eligibility:  Students need to include a letter and/or resume with their application.  The letter should include but is not limited to: reasons for applying, school activities, extra-curricular activities, hobbies, work experience, community involvement, and plans for future studies.

·        Please include any involvement in Rotary related programs that you may have participated in or are currently participating in.

Eligibility:  Plan to attend a school of higher education starting Fall 2012

Stowe Theatre Guild Scholarship

Eligibility:  Contributed to theatre, on and off the stage

·        Should have been involved with at least one Stowe Theatre Guild show, behind the scenes or on stage

·        Plans to continue their education, or enrolled in further education

Applicants should send a one-page essay explaining how theatre has impacted their life and his or her educational plans.  A resume of your participation in all shows or other artistic endeavors, along with your contact information should be included.

Imagine America Scholarship

Eligibility:  Must graduate in 2012 with a GPA of 2.5 or above and enroll in a participating career college

·        Applicants may also be requested to demonstrate commitment to community service and/or financial need.

·        Planning to attend a career college participating in the Imagine America scholarship program.  (Participating career colleges are listed at www.imagine-america.org)

Award:  $1,000

Harry Cutting American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship

Eligibility:  Student must be a direct descendant (child, grandchild, great grandchild, or legally adopted child) of a US veteran who served his/her country.

Award:  $500

Harry Cutting American Legion Post #59

Eligibility:  The son/stepson, daughter/stepdaughter, grandson or granddaughter of a member in good standing of the Post #59 American Legion Family

·        GPA of 2.5 or higher, show acceptance to an institute of higher learning and indicate attention to attend that institution within the first year after high school graduation

Award:  Two $500 scholarships

Vermont Grocers’ Association Scholarship

Eligibility:  a graduating high school senior planning to attend an accredited two or four year postsecondary school or plans to attend for the first time an accredited two or four-year postsecondary school in 2012

·        A Vermont resident or affiliated with a VGA member in Vermont

·        Demonstrate financial need and file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid

·        Be the dependent of a VGA associate or retail member store/company owner or employee located in or with responsibility for Vermont

·        Be an employee of a VGA retail member store

·        Employee must be employed a minimum of 15 hours per week or 750 hours per year; and have been employed at a VGA retail member store or member company for a minimum of one year at the time the student applies for a scholarship

Rena Chernick Scholarship – (formerly the Mountain Gardeners Scholarship)

Eligibility:  Graduating senior who has demonstrated knowledge and experience in forestry, environmental, landscape design, farming and/or horticulture and will incorporate those skills in their future studies or career

  • Must be entering a college or technical college with a major in forestry, botany, environmental, and/or horticulture studies

Award:  $2,000

A River Runs Through It Garden Club Scholarship

Eligibility:  Entering a college or technical college with a major in forestry, botany, environmental science, agricultural studies, horticulture and/or landscaping design

Award:  $500

Applications from all nominees are due to the School Counseling Office on or before March 21st (with a non-refundable $25.00 application fee from each student unless accompanied by a completed financial aid application)

Drive for Excellence – Win a new car!

Students bring report cards to the Burlington Auto Group facilities on Shelburne Road to register.  Their grades and attendance will be recorded and kept on file.  For perfect attendance, students receive (3) three entries into the contest; for each “A” students receive (2) entries; and for each “B” students receive (1) entry.  At the end of April 2012, they will choose 75 finalists at random from all entries received.  One lucky student will drive away with a new car at the Grand Prize Giveaway in May 2012.  Registration is available online at BurlingtonCars.com.

Session II – 3:00 – 5:20 pm, Mondays April 30th, May 7, 14, 21 and Tuesday, May 29th (Aligns with test on Saturday, June 2nd.)

Registration forms are located in the School Counseling Office.  The fee is $170.00(check made out to HUHS Continuing Ed); includes books, computer use, instruction (Cambridge Educational Curriculum)

 Juniors & Sophomores

College Pathways ’12 – a free college planning event for high school juniors and sophomores and their parents.  Workshops include: writing an essay that stands out; strategies for the SAT/ACT tests; creating a college list that fits you and demystifying financial aid.  Registration opens February 1, 2012.  Visit on the web at www.vsac.org/CollegePathways

·        Must be able to provide written acceptance and intent of full-time enrollment in an accredited 2 or 4 year college, trade school, or university for the 2012-2013 school year.

 Vermont Golf Association Scholarship

Eligibility:  High School senior, be a resident of the State of Vermont and accepted at an accredited undergraduate program at a two-year or four-year college or university.

·        Must be in the top 40% of his or her graduating class or have a GPA of at least 80.0 and combined SAT score of at least 1,500

·        Have a strong connection to the game of golf; have a need for financial aid

Award:  $4,000

 Alice Angney Scholarship

Eligibility:  Vermont high school senior demonstrating a commitment to furthering their education after graduation
